Fort Liberty has really improved in the last few years. The Ritz-Epps fitness center is excellent, housing wait times are much better, and the Fayetteville off-post dining scene has grown significantly. Traffic on All American Freeway during peak hours is the main pain point. Overall solid assignment.

Coming back for a second tour. The school system on and off post has improved. Hoka Hey neighborhood is quieter than it used to be. Get a house off-post if you can — more space for the money. Spring Lake has some good options.

Great for career progression — there's always something going on. BAH doesn't stretch as far as it used to with current housing costs. Make sure you lock in housing early and get on the wait list before your reporting date.

Avoid All American Freeway between 0630–0815 and 1630–1800. Cut through Cliffdale Road to get to the South Post gate way faster. Also, the Reilly Gate is underutilized — most people pile up at Bragg Blvd gate.

Skip the on-post barber lines. Head to "Fade Masters" on Bragg Blvd — they know military cuts, no appointment needed most weekdays, $15 flat. For higher fades, "Sharp Cutz" on Owen Dr is the spot. Both give military discount.

Put your name on the housing waitlist the day you get your orders — don't wait until you arrive. Spring Lake area off-post is your best bet for price vs. space. Avoid the older housing on the north side, it's been slow to get maintenance done.

Underrated gem: "King Street BBQ" — best brisket in Fayetteville, military discount on weekdays. For quick breakfast before PT, the shoppette near Randolph St has fresh made breakfast burritos starting at 0500.
